Fresh air by the river

At Riversway we love a chance to get outdoors and go for a leisurely stroll, and recently took advantage of the sunny weather to head out.

It was a beautiful walk by the river enjoying the warmth, and we even came across a dog who was very friendly with our residents. Brenda in particular enjoyed the chance to interact with the pet as in her younger years she always lived with dogs.

Any excuse for fun

We don’t need much of an excuse to have fun at Riversway Nursing Home.

A walk by the river becomes a flower spotting adventure before stopping off at a local cafe for a nice cup of coffee and scrumptious jam scone.

Even waiting for lunch to be served can be fun, It's a great chance to spend some time indulging in a favourite pastime. Here you can see our residents Bill and Lucy painting and playing with a favourite toy, respectively.

Relaxing with colours

Residents at Riversway Nursing Home recently spent a relaxing day colouring and focusing with a special activity.

The group enjoyed colouring Indian Mandalas – shapes perfect for getting creative with. Some used pen and some paints, but all were delighted with their results.

We also spent time in the sunny garden after a cold winter, and resident Betty inspected the plants.

Expression through art

Local artist Roland joined us at Riversway recently for a special session.

Our group learned how to draw a number of portraits, from people to animals, and the session really got the creative juices flowing.

It was great to see everyone expressing themselves in this way.

Paper doll memories

Riversway Nursing Home  hosted a stylish activity recently after two of our residents showed an interest in fashion.

We helped Betty and Dorothy to decorate paper dolls with vintage clothes for the afternoon, and in the process enjoyed conversation about parties, afternoon teas, dresses and fabrics.

It was a great activity, which saw some wonderful imagination and creativity put into play.
