Our Forget Me Not Cafe is buzzing

Residents and family members spent time at Riversway’s special Forget Me Not Café recently.

It’s always a lovely occasion, and each month we are getting more people visiting to chat and taste the lovely cakes on offer.

There were many activities available too, for all interests.

The next session is on September 29, and we hope to see even more people there. For more information just ask a member of staff.

Picking berries

Riversway Nursing Home stands a stone’s throw from the banks of the River Avon, a location that brings us many benefits.

We often take a walk along the river, and recently took to its banks to fill boxes with the ripe berries that grow alongside it.

Our group of residents and staff picked a large box full, and ate a lot along the way. During our outing we enjoyed meeting a mum and her children, and waving to people passing on boats.

It was a great trip and a fantastic way to enjoy a warm day after a wet and cold week.

Sarah qualifies

Riversway’s own Sarah Notton is celebrating after completing an industry qualification.

Sarah, floor manager, has passed her NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Management & Leadership.

Well done & congratulations Sarah from all the team at Riversway

Remembering Elvis

We have many music fans at Riversway, and recently to mark the anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death we wanted to do something special.

To mark the occasion, we remembered the King of rock ‘n’ roll with a singalong and by watching some of his most famous movies including Jailhouse Rock.

A number of posters were also produced for the occasion, and one of our residents even let us borrow a statue of the singer.

Time for herbal tea at Riversway

A group at Riversway Nursing Home spent time experimenting with different recipes for herbal teas.

The session saw residents and staff peeling lavender, crushing fennel seeds, and mixing ingredients including chamomile, rose petals, liquorice roots, fresh mint leaves, sage and elderflower.

Residents could choose and make their own blends with three effects – soothing, energising and digestive health and then they all enjoyed sampling the refreshing variations of their herbal tea.
